The
Society for Equity in Child Health (SECH)
was established in 2006 as an interdisciplinary group of professionals committed
to improving the health and well-being of children through the
integration of the
principles of equity, social justice, and children's rights into child health
practice. The Society will
work with the AAP, APA and other national and international professional
organizations to advance this agenda.
Our vision is a society in which there is full respect for the human rights of
every child and just allocation of the resources required to ensure the optimal
health and well-being of children. The Society's mission is to
ensure the optimal health and well-being of all children
through the principles and practices of equity, social justice and children's
rights.
The goals of the Society focus on generating new knowledge through research,
promoting education and training, transforming pediatric practice, and
developing public policy and advocacy. The Society will use a rights-based
framework, built on the foundation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the
Child, to organize its work. The Society for Equity in Child Health will link
with the expanding global network of Social Pediatrics Societies and nurture
involvement with other disciplines. Close ties will be sought with the AAP and
APA. |
